29th November Shoot - Publicity Shots

We still needed to take publicity shots for the 50s and 90s set ups. We took the 50s shots after shooting that scene so we didn't have to set up or get Jacob and Juliette in costume again.
Individual shot of Jacob combing his hair - links to our music video and fits with 50s greaser image
Shots of the couple together - links to our music video, and Jacob looks at the camera so the audience feel involved in the relationship
We wanted the 50s set up in the background for some of the publicity shots because the props help to convey the era, but for the 90s we didn't think it was necessary to have the entire set up - we just needed the costumes, lighting and the boom box. The boom box helps to convey the era more effectively than the sofa, which we wouldn't have had time to set up anyway.

The shot on the left shows the couple acting like 90s rappers, linking to our era and the video/band's fun image
The individual shot of Jacob with the boom box promotes him as an artist individually while matching the era
Couple shots promote our music video and link to the narrative
Chrystal, Brandon and I took these shots and directed the actors.

We also took more publicity shots of the band, in different costumes and with a different set up to the video, because realistically artists will always have publicity shots in different outfits and it made sense to promote them as a band in general rather than just in relation to the music video. More publicity shots help to construct our overall band identity.
Juliette took the band publicity shots
The costumes we chose were similar to our other costumes:
LEFT - new publicity shot / RIGHT - earlier publicity shot

Jacob still wears a button up shirt, Brandon still wears an unbuttoned checkered shirt, I still wear a skirt and the others still wear black skinny jeans. This keeps our band identity and individual identities consistent. The colours aren't exactly the same as before, though, to give more variety - for example, Chrystal wears red in the first shoot, and yellow in the second.

Here are some of the publicity shots:

The shots on the left and at the top show the band having fun and create an impression of them as good friends, which makes them seem more genuine. The shot on the right shows a more serious pose.

We took shots of the band members individually to construct their individual identities:

This shot helps to construct Jacob's image as the innocent but cheeky lead singer, because of his facial expression
A close-up of his face could also be appealing to his fans
These are some more fun, silly shots showing the band members goofing off, helping to create their band image, and appealing to fans because joking around makes them seem more real and accessible:
In the shots above the band are all dancing while I just stand and look confused
In this shot Jacob acts like it's a serious photoshoot with Brandon poking up behind him
These kinds of shots are funny and help to construct individual band identities
