15th November Shoot - Publicity Shots

We had decided when planning that in addition to taking publicity shots of the band, we would take publicity shots of Jacob and Juliette in their outfits for all the different eras, which we will put in a gallery on our website. This way we can specifically promote the single and music video as well as the band themselves.
Taking publicity shots
80s
We wanted to include some shots of Jacob and Juliette on their own for each era, to establish their individual characters, and for Jacob, to promote him as the band's lead singer in each of the different outfits, and also to appeal to fans who would be interested in seeing him in costume but maybe not so much with someone outside the band:
This pose constructs his identity as the cute, innocent but cheeky lead singer
Juliette is posed with the book like how she is in the video
We also included shots of the couple together to promote their image for the video and fit with the narrative of a couple in love:
We took some fun/silly shots to match the mood of the track and video, and the band's light-hearted indie pop image in general
70s
We took shots of the couple and Jacob on his own dancing in the 70s Saturday Night Fever style, connoting the era in an obvious way and linking to the music video:
These were also fun shots to fit with the fun, upbeat song and band image
We took shots of Jacob and Juliette acting as a 'cute couple', with Juliette putting her flower crown she wears in the video on Jacob's head:

Modern
Even though we didn't shoot the modern scene that day, we had time to take publicity shots from that era.

Since modern technology, in particular today's "selfie culture", is one of the most prominent things about this era, and is especially recognisable to our target audience, we decided to include this in the publicity shots so the couple are taking selfies:

As well as portraying the 'cute couple' image again, taking selfies is also something our target audience is familiar with so they could relate to this, improving the appeal of the band/video to them and making them feel more involved with the artist

We actually saved the images of the selfies, which we can put up on the website too, making the artist feel more real to the audience, and easier to relate to

We also have shots of the couple without their phones, focusing on them rather than the era, and these also help to construct the couple's cute and innocent image, especially the shot on the right
