Initial research, influences and ideas: Gaps in the market

Rock bands - in fact, all bands that actually play instruments - are, and have always been, dominated by exclusively male bands, e.g. Imagine Dragons, My Chemical Romance, Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, Panic! at the Disco, Kodaline, One Republic, Radiohead, Coldplay, The Killers, Alt-J, Royal Blood, You Me At Six, The Script… (the list goes on)

My Chemical Romance, Imagine Dragons, The 1975 and Arctic Monkeys - all successful all-male bands  -
there aren't all-female bands similar to these
Most other successful bands are mixed gender, such as Arcade Fire and Paramore. It's very hard to think of exclusively female bands - as in, actual bands, not pop groups.

One current all-female band is Haim, and their debut album Days Are Gone outsold Justin Timberlake, showing that all-girl bands can be very successful. There simply aren't as many as all-male bands, and there should be, because it would show people that girls can be successful in the music industry, not just as solo artists like Adele, Taylor Swift or Beyoncé, or in pop groups like Little Mix, but in actual bands. This would also be important because with a band that plays instruments, people would be likely to focus on their music over their image, which doesn't happen as often with solo artists and pop groups, especially female solo artists and pop groups.

A female band similar to one of the male bands shown above would be different, it would improve the representation of women in the music industry, and more female bands would emerge as a result because people would realise what has been missing in popular music.
